MORE DATA

Grey Nurse Shark Raw Data from Wolf Rock 2001-2012

Kevin Phillips and Cheryl Maughan ran Wolf Rock Dive Centre for over 15 years. During that time they kept a record of all the marine life activity and abiotic conditions on the rock. Including the critically endangered Grey Nurse Sharks (GNS). This is an excel spreadsheet that includes all that data - some of it analysed/colour coded already to highlight patterns and trends. It could be used for any of the IA2 or IA3s in both yr 11 and 12. Kev and Cheryl are now retired and kindly shared their observations with us. They were pioneers in getting the rock protected as a Grey Nurse Shark aggregation site in December 2003. There are many more GNS now at the site. Yet, still no-one knows where the pregnant females go to have their babies? A new aggregation of GNS has been found in Commonwealth waters (4nm) offshore Mooloolaba SEQld. Could this be where they go? A summary and Timeline of events (with a comprehensive literature review) for GNS is attached. This could be used as a case study for MPAs or for an IA3. Unlike Wolf Rock, The Mooloolaba site remains unprotected. Note: this data remains the intellectual property of Kev Phillips and Cheryl Maughan and must not be shared outside your school without their permission (email me).

Wolf Rock Dive Centre Monthly Reports 2003-2016

Every week from 2003-2007 and every month from 2003-2016 Kev and Cheryl would publish a Wolf Rock Dive Report in the local Rainbow Beach newspaper. They are a fantastic read! The reports have been condensed into months of the year for easy comparison year to year. The reports remain the intellectual property of Kev Phillips and Cheryl Maughan and must not be shared outside your school without their permission (email me). Enjoy! There's some great stories in there!!

Anemone fish Pirates Cove GBR

What do clown fish get up to when no one is looking? Surprisingly, they are not in their anemone too much. Idea: put on projector for 11min of background entertainment, or do behaviour study?
