The second School in the Spotlight is on Thursday Island

Where is it? A 1hr flight from Cairns to Horn Island airport, then a 20min bus ride to the marina, followed by a 20min ferry to Thursday Island marina and then either a long walk (not recommended) or a short ride to the Secondary School (on the opposite side of the island to the marina and main street)

School in the Spotlight #3: Sunshine Beach State High School

Sunshine Beach SHS got a new boat!

Sunshine Beach SHS recently had the official naming event for their newly acquired Marine Training Vessel 'Coral Cruiser'.

"Our school has been conducting marine training activities for over 25 years including the Qld Curriculum courses Marine Science and Aquatic Marine Practices.  The new vessel will be serving as a mothership for our four school tinnies and operate on Noosa River and in support of our Annual Excursion to North West Island.

The boat was named through a schoolwide competition and won by Aria Mayall.

Vessel is a Class 2C Cobia. Originally a rescue boat from Frecineth".
